Your decisions are only as good as your questions.
20 questions I rely on to make sharper, faster decisions - courtesy of my friend Owain Lewis:
- Start with the problem
→ Is it worth solving now?
→ Do we understand the root cause?
→ Have we broken it down into smaller parts? - Test your thinking
→ What evidence supports our view?
→ What contradicts it?
→ Are we missing important data? - Review solutions
→ Is this approach worth the effort and risk?
→ When is the solution "good enough"?
→ How do we explain it clearly to others?
The key is being systematic.
Bad thinking now creates bigger problems later.
Strong critical thinkers consistently:
- Challenge their assumptions
- Look for contrary evidence
- Base decisions on data AND intuition
- Consider long-term impact
Use this framework to think clearly and solve problems well.
PS. My favorite question: "When should we revisit this plan?"
