I love working with optimists.
But not the ones you're thinking of.
Not the toxic positivity ones.
Not the "everything is fine" ones.
I'm talking about the real ones.
The ones who see a major problem and say:
"Let's tackle this."
The ones who turn crisis into clarity.
Obstacles into opportunities.
Here's what makes them special:
When things go wrong (and they will):
Most people spiral
Optimists strategize
Most people blame
Optimists aim (for solutions)
Want to build this mindset?
Start here, courtesy of my friend Ani Filipova:
1/ Turn “Why me?” into “What now?”
When things fall apart, skip the self-pity and jump straight to action.
Ask yourself: “What’s the smallest step I can take right now to make this better?” Action, no matter how tiny, builds optimism.
2/ Borrow someone else’s lens.
Feeling stuck in negativity? Call someone whose perspective inspires you. Ask them, “How would you handle this?” Seeing the situation through their eyes instantly shifts your outlook.
3/ Invest in future wins.
Do one thing today that your future self will thank you for - send in that job application, connect with a former colleague, or learn that skill. Building momentum now makes it easier to believe in what’s ahead.
Remember: The person who believes they'll win eventually does.
Why? Because they're still standing when everyone else quits.
